Growing up in a large Italian family in New Jersey, I understood the language of food from an early age. Feasting was at the centerpiece of my family’s gatherings, filling everyone’s bellies with nourishment, warmth, love—and weight.

As such, nearly everyone in my family was always looking for a way to shed pounds from all the cannolis, tiramisu, and pasta they regularly ate. Time and again, I watched my family members grapple with the frustration that often arrives with dieting, while many also endured diabetes, depression, poor self-esteem, and high blood pressure. After losing three of my family members to complications from these issues, I made it my mission to help my family members lose weight and keep it off.

And along the way I was reminded of what you may already know: Diets don’t work.

What does? Eating with intention.

Ditch the Diet for Life was born from this notion. The simple but effective program draws on my experience as a counselor, yoga instructor, and Mindfulness teacher to help you control emotional eating, nourish your body, and achieve your optimal weight. Based on the Hawaiian term “Lokahi”—which translates to balance and harmony—the 5-part program assists with the following:
